My House of Ink

The recent economic recession hit my city pretty hard. For starters, one of the two major metropolitan daily papers was forced to close, and that had an adverse effect on the level of news coverage in my neighborhood. The paper’s loss turned out to be my gain. With the help of some desktop publishing software and a few enterprising friends, I created a weekly paper from scratch.

I bought a domain for the paper’s online presence, and then sought out local advertisers. We started out creating the paper using printer ribbons in my garage, but the paper saw immediate success. Before long, I had developed a viable business model that allowed the writers and me to focus on issues that mattered most to the local community. It’s a true grassroots success story, and I’m trying hard to uphold the level of honesty and integrity that my neighbors have come to expect from a news publication.
